Who is a Carer?
A Carer is someone who looks after a relative or friend in need of help because they are ill, frail, or have a mental, physical or learning disability. The care they provide is unpaid.
What can we do?
Provide a listening ear for any carer wishing to talk to someone in confidence by telephone or face to face.
Provide support groups where you can make new friends, share information and support each other.
Liaise with and make referrals to other sources of help on your behalf.
Provide information on

- entitlements and rights
- benefits
- training for carers
Provide practical assistance with
- Dealing with forms
- Claiming some benefits.
- Advocacy
We seek to raise awareness of Carers’ issues and ensure that Carers’ views are heard.
